Intermediate and Senior Landscape Architect Positions
LEES+Associates is seeking a talented and motivated Intermediate Landscape Designer and a Senior Landscape Architect to join our Guelph office team. Job Details
Intermediate Position: As an intermediate candidate, you will lead projects and contribute defined elements of work to projects led by others. You will develop knowledge and skills across a variety of project areas while developing expertise in one of our core market areas. You will support the firm principals and senior staff and become a source of guidance for other team members. You will represent the firm professionally through all your interactions and communications. You will apply initiative, creativity, and business awareness in your work. You will contribute to the ongoing improvement of office systems, contribute to the culture of the firm, and be a positive and collaborative team member. Qualifications shall include:
- 3+ years of experience post-graduation from a recognized Landscape Architecture program (or closely related degree)
- Registered or eligible for professional registration with the OALA
- Experience in cemetery, parks, open space, trails, and recreation planning and design would be an asset
- Experience from conceptual design to construction document preparation and contract administration
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
- Technical report writing and formatting experience.
- Willingness to assume progressively responsible roles in our firm.
- Strong oral, written, and graphic communication skills.
- Experience with 3D modeling (Sketchup, Lumion, Rino, etc.) would be considered an asset.
- Ability to work with guidance from senior staff in a self-directed manner to prepare technical deliverables from reports to presentations and community engagement graphics.
- Experience with detail design, preparation of tender documents, and contract administration.
- ISA or desire to obtain accreditation would be considered an asset.
Senior Position: As a Qualification shall include:
- +/-8 years post-graduation experience from a recognized Landscape Architecture program (or closely related degree).
- Registered with the OALA
- Experience in cemetery, parks, open space, trails, and recreation planning and design would be an asset
- Experience from conceptual design to construction document preparation and contract administration
- Strong oral, written, and graphic communication skills.
- Advanced report and proposal writing and formatting skills.
- Can demonstrate strong project management and project team leadership experience.
Expectations and Responsibilities of Both Positions:

- You develop and maintain client and sub-consultant relationships.

- You represent the firm at conferences and external events in your areas of particular interest/skill.
- You maintain a good level of personal professional knowledge, expertise, and creativity in one or more of our core market areas.
- That you proactively seek opportunities to improve systems and processes.
- Project Management: Take professional responsibility for your work and all work you lead for the firm. Ensure that you provide a clear brief to junior staff for technical deliverables and ensure it is properly understood. Plan for and secure appropriate resources, and control quality, costs, and scope of work.
- Business Development: Develop strong client, partner, and sub-consultant relationships and explore opportunities to bring in new work.
